Anthony Sumer: I am a Salesian of Don Bosco doing my Master degree of Philosophy in Divyadaan Nashik, I come from Cherrapunjee a place famous for recieving the highest rainfall in the world. Cherrapunjee situated south of Shillong the capital of Meghalaya the 'Abode of Clouds'. Cherrapunjee is Known as Sohra among the people there.It is called by this name among the Khasis. Cherrapunjee is the name give to the Place by the British since they cannot pronounce the Word Sohra. Cherrapunjee is a lovely place with hill and valleys. It has many tourist Place and Park. It is naturally gifted and man has just modified it to enhance its beauty. Thousands of Tourist comes to Cherrapunjee. Everyday hundreds of buses come to Cherrapunjee. From the Christian aspect Cherrapunjee has a shrine in honour of Don Bosco, the founder of the Salesian congregation.Cherrapunjee was first under the guidance of the Salvatorian, then due to the war the Salvatorian had to leave the Place from then on the Salesian has taken care of this place.
